Add new lines before your braces without the quotes:

defaults write com.apple.Xcode XCCodeSenseFormattingOptions -dict BlockSeparator "\n"

Also, when you create new file templates, put them in a subfolder of this folder:

~/Library/Application Support/Developer/Shared/Xcode/File Templates

Hope these help,
Saul

Figures, Wolf released a new version of mogenerator today. He also
added a download page for the new installer:
http://rentzsch.github.com/mogenerator/

The templates were updated to drop 10.4 support, they look exactly
like the custom ones I was using last night. Xmo'd support was also
added back in (was in awhile ago and broke about v1.6). With it, if
you add xmod to the comment field of your model, the files are
automatically generated and added to xcode every time you save the
model. Looks to be handy. The only issue is that he has it set to
not auto-add the header files to the project. So you need to do them
manually.
