Hi all -- it just seemed easier to send this info as an email than thrugh Slack. The Matsiko World Orphan Choir is a group of students from Liberia that are touring the US this year. Chris Cummings, one of the founders of X-Cats, is a sponsor of these students. They are coming to her church in LYons May 29-31. She suggested some sort of mixer with the X-Cats. After much discussion, we have identified TUESDAY May 30th at Edison as the best time and place. There will be about 20 students plus chpaerones and some folks from Chris' church. I'm looking for a couple people to help me plan this event. The current plan is to have a potluck dinner together, demo our robot and shop for them, have some sort of ice breaker (perhaps a STEM challenge?), and have a mini concert from the choir. I'm looking for a few folks -- mentors and students -- who would be willing to help me plan.
Things we have to do:
Get permission from Edison principal
Invite other city teams if we want
Get/verify potluck supplies
Plan agenda -- do we use the cafeteria and auditorium? What happens when?
Plan icebreaker
Plan any other activities
This is a really unique opportunity for an amazing cultural exchange. Check out the video and webite below for more information.
