Subject: viXen bug - Menu option "New project” is crippled!

Dear Vixener(s),

A) The Bug

I want to inform you of a bug with viXen that occurred on July 4, 2026:

    viXen was not correctly resetting the Widget Tree when creating a new project.

Here's how it happened:

1. Starting a new project after viXen reloaded my current project: F.o.x.R.A.D (FoxRAD offers xblite Rapid Application Development), I was designing from scratch the main window of a single-form KISS GUI demo.

2. Upon generating the resulting XBLite program, it turned out that "ghost forms" from FoxRAD were still present!

Five minutes later, the bug was isolated and fixed, and viXen successfully generated my single-form prototype.

The following day, I uploaded a working version of viXen to Sourceforge: <https://sourceforge.net/projects/visual-xblite/files/vixen%20version%201/VIXEN%20v1.99/vixen_setup_v1_99u_windows10.exe/download>.

viXen will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026; is it time for viXen to retire?

Dear viXen Users, could you please let me know in this Group if you care for a future for viXen beyond 2026?

I would be interested to know: it would motivate me to start working on a completely rewritten and improved version 2.00 of viXen.

Real quiet around here. I'm still using vixen, even now. I would love a new and improved vixen, of course, but honestly, I do wonder how many are actually using xblite nowadays as 32 bit computing is a thing of the past. I read that David S is/was working on a 64 bit version of xblite but that was a while back. In your case, if D upgrades xblite to 64bit then an upgraded vixen would be a really great addition to this language and quite possibly spark interest again? XBasic for Linux has a 64 bit version now  so secretly I'm hoping xblite goes the same way

Hi Silver David! As always, good to hear from you.

Now, I am curious: I'm myself a former Visual Basic 6 programmer since 1997, and I implemented a "VB import" feature in viXen. Before discovering XBLite, I had a grab bag full of little tools in VB6 for whatever computer task I had in hand. Being somewhat nostalgic, I decided to add the possibility to viXen to extract the VB forms and turn them in a viXen Widget Tree for future re-generation.

Works fine for my personal grab bag; could work for you...
