I believe it works fine on Win 7. After copying files into a \xblite folder,
you need to run the install.exe program found in \xblite\bin\. This should
set up all of the necessary PATH variables for xblite.

Hi! :-)

Is XBLite able to run in Win 7x64?
The manual (who is 2 yo.) says at requirements,  that is for Vista.
I installed it but although xblite itself working properly, XMAKE can't find various windows files, mostly DLLs (eg. GDI, Winres etc.) and aborting with fatal errors (even for console programs).

Is some additional pack required, or any PATH change?
Has someone tried it on 7? Was he succesfull?

TIA! :-)

Perhaps the environment variables are not being set up correctly. Not sure
if this applies to Win7 but for Vista:

To view or change environment variables:
  1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Click Environment variables.
  4. Click one the following options, for either a user or a system variable:
    • Click New to add a new variable name and value.
    • Click an existing variable, and then click Edit to change its name or value.
    • Click an existing variable, and then click Delete to remove it.

From the xblite user's manual:

XBLite can be installed into any folder on any drive. After running install.exe, all of the required compiler environment variables have been registered in the windows registry (NT,2000,XP,VISTA) or set in the autoexec.bat file (95,98). In all OSs, the correct paths for the XBLDIR, PATH, LIB, M4PATH, and INCLUDE environment variables are set.

In the cases where the registry is used, the environment variables are set in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Environment\ .

If XBLite is moved or installed into a different location on the same computer, then it will be necessary to again run install.exe or manually alter the variables in the registry.

The XBLite environment variables can be verified and/or changed by opening the System Properties dialog (Start >Computer > View System Information). Select the Advanced tab and then click on Environment Variables button. This opens the Environment Variables dialog.

For example, you need to see the following user variables (the drive letter should correspond to your particular installation):

INCLUDE       d:\xblite\include

LIB                 d:\xblite\lib

M4PATH         d:\xblite\include

PATH              d:\xblite\bin

XBLDIR          d:\xblite

Somehow it lost the variables.
Reruning the install. solved the problem.

THANKS!

1) Meanwhile, here's a good pictorial "How to Set the PATH System Variable for Windows", by Jack Busch:
http://www.groovypost.com/howto/set-path-system-variable-windows-7-8/

2) Suggestion: If someone want to undelete (I can't see why) xblite, is good to delete the related PATH variables as well.

3) Report: Installation executable, brings up the message (after completion): "Finished installation. Press any key to quit".
At my system " any key" doesn't work. Only after pressing Enter quits.

Greets! :-)
Giorgos.
