Actual state of a project

Hello, I'm searching for a native xml embedded database with good java api. Google gave me reference to this project. But I'm not sure is it alive or not. I saw several issues, maybe I could help with something (in fact I'm experienced developer). Thanks, Constantine.

It is not so active, and new features are not planned to be developed.

However, bug-fix and small patches are always welcome.
