Howdy,

I've noticed that when I'm exporting CSV files my event notes get divided up into fields depending on where I've put commas. Is this intentional? I know that commas are supposed to delineate fields in CSV files, but in ancient versions of XBAT text with commas was exported intact into a single field, as far as I recall. I suppose I could switch to another punctuation convention for making lists in my notes ...

Hi Mike,

Are you using the right-click Action, or the Log Export tools to
export the files?

Just curious...

Hello Mike,

The CSV format is very simple and somewhat loosely specified it seems, look at: http://www.csvreader.com/csv_format.php

I followed some of the suggestions in this and other websites to 'escape' (hide) the comma from Excel (which is what I believe you are using) with no success. I tried creating a CSV file where fields that contain commas are quoted (double quotes), where all fields are quoted, and also replacing a single comma with two none of these worked.

In any case I updated the code to replace commas with ' - ' in the meantime. It is not yet available for an update, but will be by the end of the day.

If anyone has further knowledge of CSV I would be interested.

Hi Ann,

I was using right-click Action. I'm sorry for not specifying!

Hi Mike,

In the ancient versions of xbat that you mention, I'm thinking there
wasn't a right-click Action for exporting logs (or maybe you mean a
more recent ancient, i.e. early versions of the current xbat (since
November). I'm just curious... thanks!

Hi Ann,

How silly of me. Of course you're right!
