403 Access Restricted Go to Installer

I'm trying to install but I have little experience in this kind of thing. I get the above error when going to myurl.com/xaraface and when I click on go to installer it brings up another 403 error.

I have the directory in my htdocs folder.

I'm lost and would appreciate any help that can be offered! Thansk!

it appears that the .htaccess file in xataface creates a broken link, try going to the file directly like this example.com/xataface/installer.php replace example.com with your server name.

actually this only happens if there is not a trailing / in the url.

well i've had my xataface running on my dev server 4evah, running 2 apps, but when i tried to move 1 app to the production server, the freshly installed xataface installer refuses to take the user/passwd that my wp db uses...and changing back to  'installer.disabled' gives me

403 Access Restricted. Go to installer

and of course my app gives the ever-popular blankscreen, with the only entries in the error.log

ok, i'm back, having enabled debug in my app.ini...still the blank screen, and now the error msgs have disappeared:-\
