Hi,

I have an announcement and a question. First, let me announce Backup
Bouncer, an automated test suite for OS X backup tools. It's easy to
use and aims to be a comprehensive test for preservation of metadata
and "unusual" files on OS X. I hope you will find it quite useful for
testing xar on OS X. You can find out more (including some sample
output) here:

Now my question. I've included a test for xar (v1.4), which I've
built from macports. Currently xar fails my test suite, crashing with
a bus error and this output:

Entity: line 243: parser error : Attribute style redefined
<encoding style="application/x-gzip" style="application/x-gzip"/
>
^

Should I be testing your development version? Is this a known error?

Cheers,

I'm not entirely sure about this error or what caused it, but there
are many fixes and improvements in subversion.

Ok, I updated to svn head, and what a difference! xar is now a hair's
breadth from being the only command-line tool to ace my test suite.
The only attributes it's failing to preserve are symlink ownership and
creation date. I'll file a bug on the symlink ownership issue -- I
see you've already got one on creation date.

Nice work!
