no method error

Hi, i installed xapian and xapian ruby from synaptic package manger in ubuntu 

and after adding 

gem 'xapian_db'

gem 'xapian-ruby'

in gem file and starting the server, i am getting this error

/xapian_db/railtie.rb:57:in `block (2 levels) in <class:Railtie>': undefined method `each' for nil:NilClass (NoMethodError)

i think i did some error in setup, can somebody please help me :)
