Rendering Images

Hello,

Would someone please explain the rendering process to me.  Under File (version 4.2) it has 2 options...Render and Render Image.  What is the difference between these? I looked in Github but wasn't able to find a step-by-step guide to rendering.  I only saw mention of rendering animations.

Does Render Image take what we see on screen?  And I don't understand what Basename means.  It has "anim"...do I keep it at that?    

I may have successfully rendered a file but I don't know where the image went on my computer.
