I am running my version Pro 2019 on a MacBook Pro computer. When I went to download 1001bit Tools extension I got the following message: This extension has not been marked as being compatible with your version of Sketchup. You may experience usability issues if you try to install this extension Has anyone used 1001 with Pro 2019? If so, can you put the warning in context for me please. I am designing a house with SU and am wondering if something will rear its ugly head a thousand hours into the design stage. Any help appreciated. Nick
In this video, we talk about how to use the free SketchUp extension 1001Bit Tools in order to create different kinds of openings in walls in SketchUp. This includes cutting openings, creating door frames, and modeling windows!
In this video, learn to use the extension 1001Bit tools to quickly create multiple level stairs in your SketchUp models. This extension allows you to set everything from tread width and depth, heights, and much more!
I agree john these are basic doors. I could do it yes, on another hand using 1001bit is faster and in a strange way more complicated see how i mix up everything ? Using 1001bit wil save me a tons of time later i think and it also teach me to be more precise.
I just have to take from my component library a finished door and move it to all the destination. I also rename the groups created my 1001 bit. 1 is the frame the other ith the door itself with a inside group for the pannel. The colors help me to see more clearly also
The easiest way is to make them into a Component (select then type g), then use R-Click Change Axes, and reset them to the bottom left corner while you are viewing with the red axis going to the right from the origin, the green running away from you, and the blue axis up - as the view was when you saved it.
Open the walls for editing, select a wall with a white face, and R-click and select Orient Faces to get them all right side out. You might find an odd blue face left (I did) which you can fix by selecting it and R-click Reverse faces.
You have to draw a rectangle on the face where you want a door opening, push pull it to cut an opening through both faces of the wall, then redraw a face on the outside of the wall to fill in one side again. Leave that face selected, open the extension, select your options and use Doors and windows/Door frame to get your frame. Select the group that the extension creates, and immediately make it a component and name it.
I see it will cut the openings in the double wall for you. You highlight the wall face you want an opening in, then select Walls and Partitions, set the size of opening, click Create Opening, place the rectangle in position on the highlighted face, double click to fix, and there is your doorway - clever.
This extension contains 39 separate tools that automate the creation of parametric (we love parametric!) objects such as walls, doors, roofs, stairs, and more. Also included are about a dozen other utilities like fillets, extending edges, arrays, etc.
This tutorial in Part 1 will demonstrate how to string together a series of 1001bit tools to generate an exterior floor plan for a house, including a parametric roof and corresponding framing. (Part 2 will show how to make holes for windows and doors, and window framing.)
A good SketchUp modeler always works with layers, placing similar objects on their own layer. This makes visualization much easier (you can toggle layers on and off for display purposes), which in turn makes plan generation much easier as well.
Amazing to stumble upon this article after having finished my house model a couple of hours ago. It took me a week to finish it and I was so proud.
Now I really look dumb.
Thank you for this humility lesson.
The 1001 Bit Tools plugin created by Goh Chun Hee is an amazing set of tools to create architectural works with best of detail. This plugin comes with 39 tools directed at designing architectural master pieces. Once installed the plugin comes with its own toolbar, the tools are more advanced and helpful in the design process. These tools could almost constitute an entire design program. Though these tools do require a good amount of practice to master. It can be confusing but fortunately there are great tutorials on YouTube, see below for some.
There are too many tools to discuss them all in detail here, but I do want to point out a few of my favorites. The wall tool is amazing at making walls follow a path. This tool is similar to the follow me tool, but it has much more ability to get the wall positioned exactly how you would like it. The window tool is something that SketchUp should of definitely already had as a standard tool. Whenever you are ready to make windows all you do is choose this tool and punch a window through! Though, the window framing tool does NOT work the same way as the window hole tool. If you already have an opening for a window then the frame tool will not work correctly. Its counter intuitive but the frame takes the entire solid, putting a frame on the wall as well as around the window.
Another great tool is the roof rafters tool and the joist tool. These are awesome to show the construction of a building in different phases. One of the most useful tools in this package are the stairs tools. Allows you to quickly create stairs, whether they be spiral, dogleg, or single flight. There are also basic tools in the package that allow you to chamfer and fillet corners and do some basic object manipulations that SketchUp does not already have options for.
Overall, the 1001 Bit Tools plugin by 1001 Bit Tools is an amazing set of tools that once you get the hang of it, will change the way you use SketchUp. At the time of this review this plugin is $29 or you can receive a free version as a student. The plugin is available at 1001bit.com. I give this plugin 4 out 5 stars! The document is a user guide for the 1001bit Pro software that provides instructions for 40 different modeling tools, with each section explaining the tool's functions and step-by-step instructions for how to use the tool to generate different geometric features like walls, stairs, windows, and more.Read less
The basic tools of 1001bit are the ones regarding to distance which includes Information Between 2 Points, Point on Face, Center Point of Arc and Circles. The reason why it takes time to load is because it checks the license status before loading.
This plugin provides some tools which can be used for drawing/editing geometry such as fillet, extend and chamfer which is missing in the native Sketchup.Īfter the installation of the plugin, SketchUp can take time to open as it takes time to load the plugin. The architectural elements ranges from roofs to railings, windows, staircases, roof design. Several architectural elements can be created using this tool as it works as a collection of tools.
