Uh,

After forcing myself to go through all the steps of registering on TC, then trying to go and register for the $$$ (I mean the competition...)

I got this:

Error

The registration period for the 2009 TopCoder(R) Open is over.

You may click here to return to the last page you were viewing.

If you have a question or comment, please email ser...@topcoder.com and be sure to include this timestamp: Mon Apr 20 19:00:56 EDT 2009.

-----------------

So,  is the xam portion a part of the other TC stuff...  I tried looking around about a month ago - and didn't find anything on the TC site.  This time I was going to get serious, but ... now I'm stuck.

Oh well,

Clark,

I don't think the competition is open yet for the XAM idea generation contest.
If you have a TC "handle", you should start getting announcements of new contests.
Enclosed is the announcement we did for the survey we sent out.
Look for a notice like this to start the competition.

Could you please provide more informations:

It is said:
"The top prototype winners will be announced at the SNIA’s SDC
http://www.snia.org/events/storage-developer2009/ in San Jose, CA
from September 14 to 17, 2009."

I guess these are the winners of the two TopCoder Competitions "XAM
Cloud VIM" and "XAM News Feed Browser", right?
Do the winners win a trip to the SDC or how are they announced?
Are only 1st place winners announced or also 2nd place winners?

"The top four winners will receive the following awards:"
Does this mean the 1st and 2nd place winners of the two competitions
will receive awards? What are the awards?

Thanx

Winners for both coding contests will receive awards. They are cash
prizes(>$1K, less than <$5K as listed in the Topcoder landing site.

Winners do not receive a free trip to SDC. SNIA will provide a
complimentary pass to winners to attend SDC and to participate in the
XAM plugfest.
SNIA will make announcement from main stage who the winners are on
either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Topcoder and SNIA will also issue a press release of the winners.
SNIA will also update its XAM section of the website to recap the
Ideas and Coding contests, along with the winners.
