Hi all,

I would like to keep track of the boundary terms when calculate the variational derivative of a Lagrangian. I read that VarD automatically drop the terms that are total derivatives.

In particular, I would like to replicate the example file https://github.com/xAct-contrib/examples/blob/master/Lagrangian-variation-xPert-VarD.nb but keeping track of the Boundary terms.

I found that this subject has already been discussed in this group, https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/xAct/boundary|sort:date/xact/QwrjqZzcA9k/9C2ED2DRiIwJ
and I could see the work around that Leo Stein proposed, however I was wondering if in the meantime that workaround has been integrated into xAct and there is a more direct/easier way
to evaluate it.

Cheers

Hi Anzo,

We haven't implemented yet the ideas proposed by Leo in that email. If you advance in this direction, please let us know.

Cheers,
Jose.
