There have been no xAce news for a long time.

Lorry, I guess you're busy with some "real world" :) things, are you?

Marcos,

Thanks for prompting me, I've been meaning to post a message for a while
now to say that I haven't forgotten about the project, but have been
completely snowed under with work, which in the current climate is good,
if a little exhausting. Each month, I've been thinking "I'll know some
more soon, and can give the group an idea when I can restart work on
xAce", but there has turned out to be several unexpected extensions. At
the moment I'm looking at June/July time, as the main project I am
working on should have launched by then, so I should get a bit of my
life back and recommence work on xAce.

For the moment I have distilled the conversations about adding tape
switching to:

* Have a command-line switch to attach the first tape.
* Have a key to switch attached tape.
* Have current attached file on console and other output, filesize, etc
* When saving truncate from current save point.
* Keys to go to beginning/end of tape and forward/rewind to next
program/file.
- Use F5/6/7/8 ?
* Have a default.tap attached?

The above work on xAce is not too difficult, but will take quite a bit
of restructuring.

Wishing you all the best and looking forward to restarting xAce
development in the middle of the year.

Hello all,

Another update is due. I got really stung by HP dropping WebOS and its
associated hardware,
so unfortunately it'll take me another six months to get over this. I
guess that's what happens
when you take a gamble and try to get in early. Still, nothing
ventured, nothing gained.

Thanks for your message Lorry,

I have been busy on the Ace web site with a few bug fixes and small errors.

Just re-installed Cygwin to recompile xace. I'm short of a Linux system at
the moment my Mobo was damaged with a power surge after a storm.

Steve.
