Hi,

I just compiled xAce in a Raspberry Pi (http://raspberrypi.org), on Raspbian (http://raspbian.org). No problem.

I'll show some photos when possible.

Fantastic!

I'll have to have a go on my one now you have beaten me to it!

Work seems to be very busy at the moment and not giving me much time at the
moment for Ace bits.

Steve.

Great to hear it's working on the Pi, but you do make me feel bad. I
had one bought for me quite a while ago and I've only switched it on
once to check that it was ok. I have though got an emulation project in
mind for it, which will make use of the GPIO pins.

Have fun with it

Here you are, plus a bonus "SAM" track:

I received mine last summer, but didn't try it until now...

I thought it could be an alternative for the Pandora, that lacks a good
video output. I've built Composite Video and S-Video cables for it, the
only two possible options, but the image quality is not good enough.

The Pi's HDMI output is great, but with a little portable monitor and a
portable battery it would not be quite portable...

It seems Pandora 2 (in 2015?) will have monitor output, among other
improvements.

There's another very similar computer:

http://apc.io

Unfortunately it uses micro(scopic)SD cards; IMO they are lees practical
than normal SD for serious work. Besides it runs Android, but a port
of Raspbian is on the way.

It would be conceivable to put a Pi in a shell case that looks like the
Ace, then
use the gpio pins to connect to where the various Ace ports would be. This
way you could use an emulator on a Pi as if it were a real Ace. From the
outside there should be no difference, assuming that the emulator was up to
the task. For me, this is where my real interest in the Pi lies.
