That seemed a little bit too good to be true, and when I tried itout on my recently bought MacBook Air with MacOS 10.13.6 and QuickTime 10.4 installed, I wasn't surprised to see it go wrong. The main problem is that as soon as audio is turned on in a QuickTime screen video, it starts repeating continuously an unbearable sequence of (mostly strident and high frequency) sounds in the background which all but hides any other sound. And yes, I double-checked the "Use ambient noise reduction" boxes to be checked and the volumes to be set reasonably in System Prefs > Sound.

The input volume is the record level from either the built-in mic or input jack. The output volume controls level for the internal speakers other device (such as headphone) you may plug into the output jack. The third auto level is set in QuickTime, as shown below.

If you are using the built-in mic or an external microphone and the internal or some other external speakers, then the System Preferences output volume and/or the Quick time level should set to zero.

If you are trying to make a recording where the sound is being produced by the computer, then you need to plug a jumper into the input and output jacks. Say for example, you want to record video either from the camera or the screen and you want to sound to be music from iTunes, then you will to feed the sound from the output jack back into the input jack.

Is the "theme" you're referring to the sound of the mic picking up the audio from the speakers? This is avoidable, and you shouldn't need to download any additional software; all that's required is QuickTime, System Preferences, and Audio MIDI Setup (Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup, for the Multi-Output + Bluetooth headset).

To screen record WITH internal audio AND microphone voice over using QuickTime on a Mac (without downloading additional software) you will need a USB microphone and a Bluetooth headset + mic'd audio cable. This works even if you only have one audio port on your computer.

Hi there! I'm trying to get premiere pro to allow access to screen record. I went into my Macbook Pro settings-->privacy-->screen recordings, but don't see premiere pro as an option to check the box off. How do i add that to the list? I need to be able to use the screen recording on the mac instead of a 3rd party recording app. I know this is possible because on my desktop computer, I have Premiere Pro checked off in the screen recordings tab in settings.

Most of those items are "Entitlements" which the program must request. They are not things you can manually manage. If Premiere Pro was not designed to request the entitlement, then I don't think there is a way to force it into the list. You may have to just use Luis's suggestion.

So I use UpWork for freelance work and it takes screenshots of my computer every 10 minutes. When I work on my desktop, it takes the screenshot of the program that I am using (Premiere Pro), but when I do it on my laptop, it takes it of my home screen even though I have Premiere Pop open and am using it. On my desktop, I had to allow access for screen recording, but there's not that option on my laptop.

I've been having screen recording issues ever since updating to High Sierra a few weeks ago. Whilst occasionally screen recording works, most of the time it stops mid recording or once stop recording has been pressed it doesn't capture. It is incredibly frustrating. This is the error message on Coccinella, I get the same error message with Quicktime Player.

FWIW, Coccinella hasn't been updated for 4 years near as I can tell so it's no wonder it's not running correctly in High Sierra. I'm not sure why you are getting an error message with QuickTime Player.

Seems like Apple never fixed their Zoom problem since High Sierra started. Back in Sierra screen capture with Zoom in and out worked fine. But still until today with the latest updates - nothing fixed. I've tried several screen recording softwares - including quick time and nothing.

If you screen record with QuickTime or any other software - once you play the video - the zoom in gets distorted (see attached image). This did not happen and still does not happen with Sierra or any other macOS. It's just High Sierra which is still the problem - since day 1. By the way I'm talking about the Zoom you can activate from System Preferences - Accessibility - Zoom.

I am not at my mac right now but will experiment a bit tomorrow with this. I had tried with zoom done from the trackpad (control key plus scrolling gesture magnifying the whole screen) and had found bo distortion,

Hi. Canvas Studio screen capture seems to have stopped working on my Mac today. It was working fine prior. Now it asks me to download the application (which I have done several times) but it still doesn't launch when I press record again. Any thoughts. I'm running High Sierra V10.13.6 and using the latest version of Chrome.

I just tried screen capture and it did not record what was actually happening on screen, it recorded my screen saver! None of my open windows showed at all. Audio recorded fine.

Anyone know about that?
I wanted to post this as a new topic but I can't find where to do that - can anybody help with that, too?

I had the same issue and found that my Privacy & Security options were blocking Studio from recording the screen. You can go into your System Preferences, select Privacy & Security, scroll down to the Screen Recording section, and click the check box in front of Screen Recorder after unlocking the settings.

This is a quirky thing I've encountered several times as well. I don't really think it's necessary to re-download the screen capture software every time you are prompted...as I believe it's supposed to be a one-time install. When I start the Studio Screen Recorder, I am usually prompted with a message at the top of my screen to open the Screen Recorder Launcher. I click the button to open it up. Then the screen that you have included above shows up...but I either ignore that or close it. If I wait for another 30-60 seconds, then I see the screen recorder software launch with the dashed line to define what area of my screen I want to record.

Print screen (often abbreviated Print Scrn, Prnt Scrn, Prt Scn, Prt Scr, Prt Sc or Pr Sc) is a key present on most PC keyboards. It is typically situated in the same section as the break key and scroll lock key. The print screen may share the same key as system request.

Moreover, Windows computer has its built-in utility, Snipping Tool, Macintosh has its built-in screen print tool, Grab. However, Mac is different from Windows, and the keyboard shortcuts and built-in tool also work different.

2. If you want to add the screenshots to the Clipboard instead of desktop, you need to add Control to the key combinations above. For example, you have to press the button combination of Command+Control+Shift+4, instead of Command+Shift+4 to add the screenshot to the Clipboard.

In the Preview window, click "File" > "Take Screen Shot" to start to print screen. There are three options, "From Selection", "From Window" and "From Entire Screen". You can use these functions to print screen.
