Help to correctly load packages

Hi all,

I followed the installation guides and downloaded the full xAct_1.3.0.tgz bundle to my local  /Users/<user>/Library/Wolfram/Applications/ (MacOS).

But when attempting to load in a Mathematica file xTensor (and xPert), I am met with various problem. For the former, I get a message saying

          "
“xperm.mac” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software."

On Mathematica, it then gets stuck on the message

          "
Connecting to external mac executable..."

forever. For the latter, I get various error messages (see atatched screenshot).
What am I doing wrong?

I am using Mathematica version 14.2.1.0 on a Apple M1.

This is an issue related to the increased anti-malware protections that Apple has added to MacOS over the last several years. There are some workarounds discussed in this thread:
