Problem with new released

Hello all!

I have just used new release of xAct on a new machine. The problem is that I got tons of error on a notebook that was working before.

To begin with, evaluating the notebook which begins by calling xTras shows three error about packetManager in Spinors and xTerior.

At the same time Mathematica show another error about reenabling Dynamical Update Enable! I obviously do reenable and have the same error again and again.

The third problem is that even by evaluating line by line the notebook which I'm pretty sure was working before gets tones of error about signature and other stuff.

Currently, I'm using Mathematica 11 on Mac (High Sierra).

Hi!

This is obviously not good. Could you please send us a minimal non-working notebook with at least some of the errors showing so we can try to figure out what went wrong?

Unfortunately, for some reason I don't have any minimal notebook.

What I attached here is not minimal but you can see the error at the beginning! I also attached screenshot of Mathematica's error.

Let me mention that I have just install Mathematica on this new machine. The last version of xAct that I have installed was 3 years ago, and I have not updated it until today.

Hi!

I am not a expert in the Paclet system so Jose or Alfonso might have to answer what is truly going on here, but a guess is that there is some incompatibility between different versions of Mathematica. It has mainly been tested on Mathematica 12.3.
One can get a little more information on where things go wrong if you don't block the printing of the information from the packages, and just load the first package where it goes wrong.
Just try
<< xAct`Spinors`

I think the Spinors package should work without the paclet files, so you can try to move
xAct\Spinors\PacletInfo.wl
and
xAct\Spinors\Spinors.wl
to some folder where Mathematica can not find them and see if that helps.

I remove the blocking command but nothing changes.

However after deleting the PacletInfo files, the notebook runs flawlessly. 

I will update to Mathematica 12.3 and checked again. For now I think everything works as before.

Dear Pedram,

Thomas suggestion is fine, you can delete any *.wl file from the
Spinors and xTerior directories and your xAct installation will not be
affected in any way (even if you use Spinors and xTerior in your
computations).

If anyone with Mathematica 12 or above sees similar problems, please
report them (in any case, the workaround described above will let you
use xAct as usual). Thank you very much.

Hi,

The PacletInfo files have been removed from the xAct tarballs, to avoid problems while loading xTras in former versions of Wolfram Language. The language of the paclet manager changed in WL 12, and therefore when xTras uses paclet functionality on the xAct folder, those files are considered invalid in version 11.

If any other problem is detected, do not hesitate to report it here.
