xAct fails to install on Mathematica 11 on Ubuntu 18.04

Dear all,

I am trying to install xAct on my Mathematica 11 running on the Ubuntu LTS 18.04 platform on my work computer (I have another Mathematica 8 on Mac OS which works fine with xAct) - I followed the installation guide 

http://www.xact.es/download/install

for Linux and put the xAct folder into $HOME/.Mathematica/Applications/, but when I run

<< xAct`xTensor`

all I got was an error message: Get::Failed. 

So I'd like to ask whether anyone has successfully installed xAct on Mathematica 11 on Linux (Ubuntu)? I am currently using a trial version of Mathematica, but that should not affect the installation of xAct?
