I am not sure what you are referring to when you mention the standard textbook. I have attached a notebook for you to use as an example (it only needs the addition of the kinetic term). In the first part, I use only the Gauss–Bonnet term and show that it is topological (i.e., it does not affect the equations of motion). In the second part, you can find your example.

i have attached the note book and i want to obtain the standrd text book form the Eqm. Applying rules but not getting the correct form.
