I need to replace a couple of tires. The ones on the car are Yokohama
S306 and they don't do much for me. A see Yokohama do a performance
A539 that gets pretty good reports. What else are people running and
how do they find them?

I only have a negative recommendation.....I have recently put
Firestone F900's on the rear, they are ok but a bit soft in the
sidewall. I knew they would not be super flash, but hey. They make
fast cornering more amusing than it would otherwise be.....

I'm running Toyo Proxie FO8s at the moment. They're a grippy tyre at
some lose of life.
I think Toyo may have superceded them recently though.
What size are you guys using? Ages ago I went to 185/60/13s (on
standard rims) and
they really are the best compromise on the 13" rims. They make the
tyre diameter
just a tad smaller that stock (speedo about 3% slow).

Dave,

Thanks for that. Yes, I'm running 186/60x13 of standard Cromadora rims. I
think the replacement Toyo tyre is the Toyo Proxes Vimode

Cheers

Just an update on this. I have fitted a set of Yokohama A539s and I
have to say they seem really good. I got these from Advantage Tyres
here in ChCh via Trademe for the sum of $340 fitted and balanced
(that's all four). The best price I was able to get elsewhere was $150
each.

I'll let you know how they go over the next few months.
