Hi all, just a note to say that I found a pretty good replacement for the brake reservoir on the X - off a 1992 Toyota Estima. The outlet tubes are a size too big so need reducers to work, but for $25 all up I am pretty happy with the result. I had not driven the car since the track day as the top of the reservoir had cracked quite badly.

Actually I inadvertently lied, as the wof sticker did not match up to the car, something dodgy methinks, after some sleuthing I found out it was a Toyota Ipsum;

Great..thanks for the post
What have you used for tubing from the remote reservoir? I thought I
had a fix with para rubbers "Solvent1" tubing but it appears to be
sweating after a couple months installation so out it comes again...
FYI The other day I found a thread on one of the overseas forums about
using BMW 540-740 E32 (87-94) remote reservoir. it looks good from the
pic there is a flange off the bottom that needs cutting off otherwise
very similar in design to the X19 brake reservoir (better perhaps
since the pipe exit points are on the same side) and no step-down for
pipe sizes. Also, somewhere else I heard that early VW golf has
similar reservoirs...
Lets keep this post going because it looks like a problem for most of
us at some point...
Cheers

I just grabbed the hose from the Toyota, there was enough to link to the brass fittings to the original (cut back) hose that was already there.
I also read about the BMW 540/740 reservoirs being suitable, but then I tried to source one.... my guess is that there a a good few more Toyota Ipsums in wreckers than BMW 740's..
