Hi X19 aficionados

Apologies as I have neglected the X19register in recent months....I
will be finishing my MBA studies in mid June and after that it is high
time to get under the bonnet again (much needed I can assure you since
my Exxy has been off the road since 2006), as well as crank up the
X19register finally.....

Jaffas: It would be great to have a get together sometime this winter
of Exxys in Auckland to those of you in the vacinity - do get in touch
with me x19re...@gmail.com

Also, 2012 is not only my 40th but its also the 40th anniversary since
the mighty X19 was launched....we really should have some kind of
celebration/get together/road trip...etc..Just imagine a whole row of
Exxys lined up (like they do in Europe, the UK and USA)...or a convoy.
Having had previous road trips, the mainland is simply fabulous when
viewed from the cockpit of an Exxy, snow rain or shine (ah yes, our
cars have such great heaters thanks to Nuccio!).
If anyones interested from across the country do get in touch for a
few ideas

Cheers & happy motoring
Anthony

Anthony,

Would certainly be interested in a road trip next year. As a Mainlander I
must say the West Coast is the best. We might have some of the roads in
Christchurch smoothed out by then - they are not good for a low slung stiff
Exxy at the moment. Problem is you never know where the next bump is either.

Cheers

posterd via email FROM John C:

Hi Members and Others,

Yes, I would be interested in joining a commemorative road trip.
Naturally, being based in Dunedin, I would plump for the South Island.
Sorry, but the NI does not have roads and places to compare with the
SI. We could pretty much avoid the humps and bumps of Christchurch.

If the trip is a to go, we need to try and round up a few more X19
owners who are not members of the Register. Any thoughts on how we may
do that?

Cheers,

John C.

PS. The NZ Fiat Club now has a group on Facebook. Have a look!!

Hi PeteR & John C

Thanks for your replies...Great to hear there's some interest in a
40th anniversary gathering for 2012...anyone else care to comment?

So far we have two plugs for the Mainland....North Island replies
welcome...(dig dig -being encarcerated in AKLD Im entitled to make
digs)...

I put the idea of an anniversary gathering/road trip out there to see
how much interest there is, and what ideas the people have.

Variations on a theme: Are people interested in a round trip or a
rolling convoy?...or a destination to converge on?...or an event to
attend? (personally, I'd be interested in visiting Wanaka Airshow
again (which is at Easter), plus central otago). Also, one of our
members, Dave Dixson has a hotel in scenic Akaroa...All mainland
destinations so far....

JohnC: RE increasing the Register membership: Yes please, all ideas
accepted!!....At random intervals I have emailed people selling x19
parts/cars on Trademe letting them know about the register...im open
to other ideas...I think we also need to have a look at whether this
google forum location is working for us or if Facebook would be
better. I think we need a NZ identity/location to keep NZ owners
connected although individual membership to overseas X19 groups has
other benefits for the individual

...if the NZ X19 register gathers momentum (it needs more effort put
into it than I have had time for lately - we have 40 members listed
from memory), it could be worth seeing if LTSA would help out with a
mail list to road registered X19 owners...Im also open to ideas and
sharing the responsibility for getting the x19register cranking. I
have tried to keep it free and I also dont want to compete against
other organisations like the fiat club (working together would be
better)...although exxys tend to have a life all their own since only
some were actually fiats and Bertone had a bigger involvment and parts
from non-fiats were used....I tried to get NZCC mag to update our
outdated contact details plus we remain listed under F for fiat rather
than X for X19, which comes across as being a competitor to fiat
clubs, which is not the idea...better than nothing thought ...all
exposure appreciated if it helps keep our unique cars on the road and
their kiwi owners connected!

Cheers and looking forward to all your replies!
Anthony HC

Ant,

I'd plug for a rolling convoy. Perhaps you starting in the North and
gathering others on the way down with perhaps an initial meet at somewhere
like Blenheim. Then it could be a blat down the Westcoast (Blenheim,
Westport, Hokitika, Glaciers to Wanaka) perhaps a night in Franz Josef and
then a night or two in Wanaka before coming back up via Lindis Pass and
Tekapo.

Feb or March would be good. Can we avoid weekend of 10 March though as I
have a MTB race I might do again :-)

Cheers
Pete
