Hi all.

Haven't posted in this group for a long time. This issue might already have been solved. Hope so.

I try to install mythbuntu on my htpc. I have an ASUS M2A-VM HDMI motherboard and a 37" plasma with hdmi interface. When I boot up with the installation cd, I see the motherboard boot page and the "loading mythbuntu page" through hdmi. But when the screen where I'm supposed to choose between installing och booting a live cd should appear, my screen goes black. I'm new to linux but I'm guessing that since I see the loading mythbuntu page via hdmi, it should be possible to fix this.

Have anyone had this problem? I don't have a DVI-HDMI cable but I'm thinking of getting one to see if that helps because I can't figure this one out.

sometimes, if you have digital & analog outputs connected,
we find that analog is working fine while digital is blanked,
could this be the problem here?

Hi Jojo,

Thanks for the response. I never tried that one, I had both digital and analog plugged in all the time. Maybe I'll try this at home.
I did, however, try a DVI-HDMI cable...still with the same result (black).

After a while of fibbling around the forums I saw something about Live CD working, but not "regular install". I tried to boot a Live version...crappy on vga...but it worked on dvi-hdmi. Once inside live environment, I could choose to install mythbuntu on my machine. And after that, it worked. I have no idea why an "ordinary install" didn't work but an install from live environment did. But as for now, I frankly don't care. =)
