Guys I am glad to announce you that Textured Video is working for our
cards in 64-bit mode too!!

Very good quality here and no diagonial tearing anymore!!

Furthermore GLESX module now has flags=30 whereas at 8.2 had
flags=14.
2D performance and scrolling is better now with Compiz-Fusion!

And finally no 3D corruption anymore!! Games are playble again!

Here's my xvinfo output:

You can grab the driver from here cause ATI's link is broken:

Seems March is a good month for us folks! :)

well I'll start modifying the install pages !!

Jim: double buffering doesn't make sense for our IGPs,
as the gpu don't have separate memory

so can anyone try out which options are working in xorg.conf ?

I just saw that dbe option at Xine's setup Video tab and never seen
that before neither with the OSS driver nor with my old nvidia fx 5200
card's xv.

Our cards use a part of the main memory for the VRAM and we specify
how much... So why not double buffer?? I use DDR2 RAM at 800Mhz which
is faster than many laptop and desktop video cards with separete
memory(at least the cheap desktop ones).

Well I can confirm the following new options!
Under Section "Device":

Option "TexturedVideo" "on"-> now works for 64-bit systems too
without diagonial tearing and good quality!
Option "Textured2D" "on"-> this was working under 8.2 too but now
works much better.

That's the news guys! :)

Still waiting for EXA, XvMC, Crossfire(AVIVO for us), AIGLX
improvements.

Suspend to RAM works great under my openSUSE 10.3 64-bit, kernel
2.6.24.1, Xorg 7.3 latest xserver 1.4.90.

Can anyone try to see if the new driver installs under a 2.6.25 rcx
kernel?? Cause 8.2 couldn't work...

Tested out the ati catalyst 8-3 yesterday.
As you guys said, there is no more tearing. Picture quality is good
but sometimes I saw small artifacts or short lines flickering in the
picture. So far, I only saw it in full screen mode. Is it just me or
anyone had the same experience?

Other than that, the driver is great! The best one I put into the
RS690 board. :-)

Hi, I have tested this driver last evening and I have notice small artifacts me too (X11 remain the best quality video also if XV is very improved then 8.2).
I thinks also that the different render quality of a video with XV driver depends on the codec of video, because not with all video I have notice small artifacts.
Moreover with HD Rip video file like [HDDvdRip - 1080p - Ita Eng] The Bourne Ultimatum
File size : 2 x 4.37 GiB
PlayTime : 1h 50m
Bit rate : 11 Mbps
Encoded date : UTC 2007-12-22 12:02:34
Writing application : mkvmerge v2.1.0 ('Another Place To Fall') built on Aug 19 2007 13:40:07
Writing library : libebml v0.7.7 + libmatroska v0.8.1

Video #0
Codec : MPEG-4 AVC
Codec/Info : MPEG4 ISO advanced profile
PlayTime : 1h 50m
Width : 1920 pixels
Height : 800 pixels
Aspect ratio : 2.400
Frame rate : 25.000 fps
Language : Italian

the video is not fluid; sometimes video stop on a frame for a moment and the audio is not synchronized with video.
Is not a problem of the video file because on Windows Xp I can see the video perfectly and fluid.
Nevertheless this driver remain the best for the moment.

XV really does work now and so does OpenGL. However, I still had to
disable atieventsd to avoid hardlocking while X restart. Is there a
way around this? Since atieventsd enables the use of PowerPlay I
figure having it around would be useful when using a laptop.

Hey

I was wondering what options you are using in xorg.conf, and if anyone
have tried this driver with mythtv? I get distorted colors on playback
using mythtv. mplayer works fine.

Also, what fps count do you get from glxgears? i get around 1200 fps,
is this normal for this card?

Also whenever you make a change by hand at xorg.conf give this:

aticonfig --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf --tls=1

Cause it needs something to be added by aticonfig in order to remake
amdpcsdb and your change to take afect!! Stupid ATi!!

On the later Ubuntu Hardy 2.6.24-12, fglrx fails to load and if I
manually load it, all I get on X restart is a flickering green screen.
Very frustrating.
