Well, I spent the day getting my new Lorei Duo up to speed.  I've attached the aborted first print video below.

Here's a quick picture of a before and after of the software calibration of the dual heads:

I noticed that I'm having persistent problems with the first layer.  I have thin spots, over-extruded areas, and raised stripes showing up in the same places every time.  These problems don't show up again in the second layer:

Here's a quick video of my first print with my new X-Machines Lorei Duo: https://youtu.be/dEqVfXG3iNo

Comments and questions welcome!

Thanks for all your doing! Greatly appreciated! I it's nice to see someone with a printer.
Is there manual bed leveling or are they relying on the auto 3pt. function to level the bed only?

Sandro thanks for posting your print. I am an extreamly early backer for the duo as well. I can't wait to finally receive my printer. Thank you for starting a thread where we can communicate and share our experiences. I am sure it will prove invaluable once we start printing... just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks..... Thank you for your post! I feel a little bit disappointed to see out of the box print quality. Especially since it is the first shipped printer and they should have made sure it was up to their own expectations of a good printer.. I'm new to this and hoped better and easier setup. Are you in contact with them to sort this out?

It has manual bed leveling as well as the 3-point auto-leveling.  I'm hoping to get a version of Marlin with mesh-bed leveling working in a week or two (lots of work commitments right now).

Actually, I was quite impressed with the out of the box print quality.  I think most of my issues have to do with getting a slicer profile worked out.  The bed unevenness is probably just the glass plate not being entirely flat.  I was printing that first layer at less than .1mm (to improve adhesion), so small variances showed up very clearly.

Right now, I've started with a dual-extrusion profile from another printer, and just reverted a bunch of setting back to the S3D defaults. I'm now just going through bunches of test prints and trying to get things working as well as possible.

I have not contacted them, mostly because I think most of what I'm seeing is related to the software config (and frankly I'm swamped at work).   I also don't want to interfere with them getting units out the door.  Some backers are so worked up that I think they just need to keep making progress with shipping.  The issues I have are mostly just tweaking in software, and it maybe the case that when they release their own profiles some of the issues will just go away.
