I'm still refining the design, but this is the current design project.  Printed on my Lorei Duo then put immediately to work.

This version is massively over-designed (it's at 15% infill, and still way stronger than necessary).  I plan on slimming down the arm, and maybe making it latticework to lower the amount of plastic used.  The base plate is also likely to be converted to a triangle instead of a square.  I'll publish the next iteration, then revise online if necessary. Input welcome!

Fantastic.  I got the metal bracket but don't like it.  I agree,  less is more.  I am amazed how strong this plastic is.

Is that for one or two spools?

Mine is going to be for one spool, but I'm likely to create a two spool version over the holidays.

Robert's uses 1" PVC, so you can choose the size you want.

Hey, those are great. I was going to make one too but why re-invent the wheel? Thanks guys!

I wasn't happy with the spool holders I made, they were a bit too flimsy for larger spools.  So I made a base part that uses PVC tubing as the main structure.  It's much more sturdy and I can now hold 2 large spools without any trouble.  If you don't mind the spools hanging off to the left of the Lorei, this is a nice alternative holder.

Very clever. As soon as I can get my printer to run, I'll try this alternative.

Thanks!

Sandro- have you finished the redesign?  I am hoping to use yours instead of making my own.

Oh, I did, but I never published it (was tweaking it with some ideas I got from Robert Keller's version).  In light of the official XMachines one, I decided it didn't really need to compete since it's the same basic principle.

I printed this one and I think it works well. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2015847
