Hi Josue & Jaime,
I just wanted to leave you some notes on the printer after having had a chance to put it through it’s paces:
- Shipping - the box and printer seemed to come through shipping pretty well. Not even a ding in the box even after a trip to Hagerstown and back :-)
- Physical build - The only issues I have noticed is there is some play in the X-axis arm, and the Z-axis carriage. I’m not sure if they loosened up during shipping or this is a design/intentional choice. I also have a significant slope front to back on the bed. I don’t think any of these issues is affecting printing as long as bed leveling takes into account the issues.
- Initial printing and use - everything seems to work well and printing went as expected. The nozzle offset was slightly different than the firmware values (43.1 x -0.5), I’m not sure there’s anyway to avoid this… One of the extruders (right) had its drive gear work loose, simple fix, but this happened in the first couple hours of printing, so it’s something to watch out for.
- Biggest issue/surprise - it appears that it’s possible to print with the Lorei off! I had the power supply plugged-in and a USB cable hooked up, but the power to the Lorei itself was off. The display lit up, and I proceeded to print (without even realizing the printer was “off”) for several hours. This is primarily going to be a problem for people using things like Octoprint or Astroprint.
- Specific to my printer there seems to be raised stripes in the first layer output. These are showing up in the same location on the bed every print. I think it might be an issue with either the v-wheels or x-axis extrusion. I’ll have to do more experiments to mail down the cause. I’m guessing this isn’t going to be a wide spread issue, but I thought I’d let you know.
Also if possible, I’d like a copy of the sources you used for the Marlin version included with the printer. I plan on upgrading to a version that supports mesh-leveling of the bed, and I’d like to just port over the values. I plan on publishing the resulting compiled firmware, but would happily send it back to you for dissemination.
I also think I owe you guys $20, since my printer ended up getting shipped instead of my picking it up. You can just re-invoice me if that’s easiest.
Thanks!
