One of my extruders started having real problems extruding filament (little to no filament coming out of the nozzle).
It works out that the set screw on one extruder gear (located on the back of the Z-axis) had worked loose. I tightened it onto the flat part of the shaft, and all is well now. Easy fix, but it took watching the filament feed carefully to spot the problem. I just had to tighten the set screw using the included (small) allen key. Again, be sure sure to turn the gear to place the set screw against the flat part of the motor shaft. Here's a quick picture:
