Deborah, I have windows 7 as well.  These are just jpg’s and work fine in Windows 7.  You might need to install Adobe Reader to be able to view them.

Unfortunately my husband had adobe reader open at the time I opened your attached file on the photos. Would it possible for you to send the photos by Word. When I try to open your attached nothing is readable

 

How are you related to the town of Wyszogrod?  Did you have relative from this town? Are any of your relatives the Baums's?

May I second the request for a file that can be opened?

 

It may well be jpgs, but it came as a zip file with what looks like a garbled title...don't know what the suffix should be...it isn't jpg...I tried changing it to that. The suffix appears to be .zi8, which I assume means zip...

Hi, Thank You for the photos. I was in Wyszogrod in 2005. My father´s grandparents were living in Wyszogrod until 1923 when they travelled to Finland and Helsinki. My grandfathers family was born there. My grandmother was from Vitebsk in Belarus but was married to my grandfather. My father and three of his siblings were born in Wyszogrod. Two brothers were born in Helsinki. My father was 5 when he came to Finland. He was very sick due to poor circumstances and food in Wyszogrod. He almost died in Helsinki but was helped by a famous childrens doctor Arvo Ylppö, who actually saved his life. When my Grandmother asked what does it cost, Ylppö said nothing at all. He knew Furman´s were quite poor. The said that Ylppö who had studied in Germany was very germanminded but my father, who he knew was Jewish, did not affect him at all. To Ylppö a child was a child. I tried to find out something of the Furman´s family in Wyszogrod but nobody could or bothered to help me. When I came back home I contacted the Polish Embassy in Helsinki and asked for help. The Ambassador, who was Jewish, helped and after two weeks I got documentaries from my family in Wyszogrod. Some of the Furman´s family, like mine, travelled from Poland, to America, South Africa and Finland. Some of them stayed and was killed by Nazis. Israel (my family left Poland to Belgium, where some were sent to Auschwitz and murdered, some escaped. My grandfather made it to Brazil. The rest of the family is of Bessarabian origin (old Romania, today the area around Moldova and Ukraine borders. My mom's parents were Holocaust survivors, from Secureni, Romania. I was born in Rio, Brazil and moved to Israel 5 years ago... and seems we jews did put our feet in the farthests corners one can imagine...)

 

I will hopefully find, update and send our group's families list spreadsheet for you to review/update - Wyszogrod, from all the places I have found traces from - is the town from which I have collected the largest list of names and families relating to mine.

 

We have just added Sara to the group as well. Thanks for joining.
