Hello Everyone,

I wanted to share a project I've been working on.

As many of you know, civil records scans for Wyszogrod, years, 1808-1825, are now available via szukajwarchiwach.pl .

I've been indexing those records little by little into a Google docs spreadsheet. It's still a work in progress, but I thought I'd share what I've got so far.

Some years are more complete than others, but it's worth skimming through all the tabs. Earlier years are difficult because we were yet to take on surnames, but I've tried to match names up where possible. Please forgive any highlighting or any of my own personal family research notes, but I am filling in more information as I go along.

The spreadsheet is available here:

I'm not currently allowing outside editing, but if you've got information to share or you're interested in helping with the indexing, please let me know.

Wishing you all a terrific year,

Terissa Schor

Dear Terissa.

Thank you for your email.

I am not sure I understand it all. Maybe because my poor English.

As a son of a wyszogrod survivor (my father was born there) it looks to me very interesting however – as I understand it – it talks about years that I am not sure are relevant for mi.

Can you send it to me in Hebrew?

Hi:

Great project and a real labor of love.

The Wyszogrod family that I am researching in ZYLBERSTEJN (or its many vaniants). I do not see any here, but my father-in-law told me that the family was there from about the 11th century, so I am confident that they will show up.

Happy New Year,

Hi Itzik, here is what Terissa says in hebrew:

טריסה אומרת שיש אתר (שהלינק שלו היא צירפה, למעלה) שבו קיימים רישומים מתקופת 1800-25 לאירועים אזרחים, כגון לידה, נישואין ופטירה.
היא התחילה עבודה להעביר כל הנתונים לקובץ excel, והיא צירפה במייל מה שיש לה מוכן עד כה.

אם אתה צריך עזרה בפתיחת\שימוש בקובץ, דבר איתי.

Hi Cousin Terissa

This is truly a labour of love.

I did not see any of Itta Tabacnic's family there but I realise this is not one of your relatives (only by marriage, Itta (or Yetta) being the wife of Simon).
You may recall you helped me many years ago with the family history. However, I do not think I can add anything to your indexing.

Wishing you a very happy new year.

Dear all,

I have a story to share with you. I looked at the 1808-1826 Wyszogrod data several years ago, as I was searching for my BAUM-BOJM family which later migrated to Konskie. The clerk handwriting and film quality for those Wyszogrod years is appalling, frankly, very hard to read, so I want to tell you that Terissa is to be truly congratulated! Her initiative is great and we can do this.

In 2008 I wrote a paper about my Konskie-Wyszogrod ‘explorations’, see attached. The starting point was the 1832 Konskie marriage record between Mendel’s daughter Ronia KUMEC and Mosze BAUM, a particularly fine document written in handsome calligraphic handwriting (Fig. 1 in attached paper). It stated that Mosze BAUM, a resident of Wyszogród, is to wed Ronia KUMEC, whose father is the rabbi of Końskie. A question that arose in my mind almost immediately was: why of all places did Mosze BAUM (or his parents) of Wyszogród select a bride from distant Końskie (130 km away)? For possible leads, see attached, enjoy the reading J.

I am ready to help, of course.

Warm regards,

Daniel

Hi,

Thank you so much for the painstaking research you have been doing on the families in Wyszogrod.  I don't see my family's name: Weitzman

I wonder if you still have other families that you haven't listed yet?

Thank you again!   Marion Wilson (Weitzman)

Hello,

I also would like to thank you for all this work. I too do not see my family name, Baum. I know they definitely were living there in the early 1900's

Actually: (1) there were tons of BAUMS in Wyszogrod but… (2) but the surname BAUM did not appear until about 1820-21, so you will have to do a painstaking search via patronymics (names of parents) to identify the right couple(s)… I did this and was quite successful.

Hello Everyone,

I'm glad the spreadsheet is helpful.  We have a very long way to go. I have a lot that still needs indexing. If you don't see your family names, fret not.

Hi Uri,

The info is coming from http://www.szukajwarchiwach.pl/, where scanned records from 1808-1825 are available online. I am merely transcribing the index pages.

Tell us more about what you know about your Pasternak family. I'll keep an eye out for them.

Cheers,
Terissa

Dear  Professor Wagner:

I have been trying to find my great grandfather's family from Wyszogrod. David Baum came to the U.S  I believe March 1890 on the ship Etruria from Liverpool, England. It was told to me by my father that he married my great grandmother, Paulina in London before leaving for the U.S. My great grandmother was from Belz ,Poland which is now in the Ukraine. David Baum died at 42-45 yrs old in Chicago. ( 1908) I have been to Ellis Island but no luck. I am wondering if his name was not Baum but Boim. It appears that some of your family are also Baum's. The passengers list on the Etruris for U.S. arrival mar. 1890 has been lost.

I have been on ancestry .com but no luck also, my great grandmother changed her maiden when she and her father arrived in London to Greenstone, so it is difficult to trace her back to Belz. I believe my great grandfather was born around 1858-1860 in Wyszogrod. My grandfather Moses Baum was born in Chicago in 1893 and was the oldest of five children.

My husband and I are planning a trip to England next year and hopefully I can locate their marriage certificate.

Wishing you a Happy New Year,

Deborah (Baum) Smith
