Thursday greetings. Has anyone hosted or attended a birthday party at the Wyndmoor fire house on Willow Grove Ave? We're between homes right now, thinking about the location for our son's 3rd, and would appreciate hearing from anyone with personal experience.

Thanks in advance for sharing input.

We did it about eight years ago.  We had the Philadelphia Zoo come by with their animal program.  That was probably a bad idea as the Wyndmoor price includes time with the firemen and a tour.  The Zoo program made for too much entertainment.  We should have just had the fire program and maybe a game or two.  The room is big and will hold a lot of kids.

And the pool table is from the old Stotesbury Mansion which is really cool (although keep the kids from playing).

Jeff, many thanks for the speedy input. This is very helpful. I'm going to schedule a time to look at the space.

We also used the firehouse for a couple of birthday parties about 7 or 8 years ago and it was fabulous. I agree that you don't need extra entertainment than what is provided by the fire company. They did a great job for us and our kids!

We had our son's 4th birthday party there and attended some others. They do a great job showing the kids the trucks, and if the weather is good and they have enough guys available they let them spray the fire hose. They can also give the kids a ride in a fire truck, unless it is raining (or there's a fire).

The space is good for that age with one caveat -- the far side of the room has a pool table that the kids aren't supposed to mess with. That can be a little tricky if you don't have activities planned for the whole time.

It worked out well for us. Good idea checking the space.
