Hello Members!

I am pleased to announce that we have candidates for each position open for our WyGEO Elections. Please vote at the following link by Midnight, Tuesday, December 16th: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeKCBAYuEsNq5VhZL3xL_C8SlQ-qPM5tZvyh5eAAS45l8RUDg/viewform?usp=header

Below find short bios for all of the candidates:

President: Nicholas Case

Nicholas Case is an Assistant Lecturer in the University of Wyoming’s School of Computing, where he teaches applied software development with an emphasis on real-world data, geospatial technologies, and modern engineering practices. Before joining the faculty, he worked as a Geospatial Developer at WyGISC, building mapping and climate-data applications that continue to shape his approach to teaching and community leadership.

A WyGEO member since 2018, Nicholas served two terms as Secretary before being elected President for his current term. His leadership has centered on strengthening communication, improving regional engagement, and helping guide statewide conversations around geospatial data governance and the future of Wyoming’s shared mapping infrastructure. He is committed to fostering a community where collaboration is easy, new members feel welcome, and technical work supports real public benefit.

Nicholas looks forward to the opportunity to serve a second term as President and continue advancing initiatives that help Wyoming’s geospatial community stay connected, informed, and prepared for the challenges ahead.

Secretary: Carson Liesik

Hi, I'm Carson Liesik, I was born and raised in Utah and decided I wanted to shake things up and give Wyoming a try. I enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it's hiking, fishing, or camping. I’m also a bit of a nerd, I love collecting Pokémon cards and spending time with family and friends playing video games and board games. I moved to Cheyenne just over six months ago and currently work as a GIS Technician with the Laramie County IT Department. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Ecology and Management along with a GIS Certificate from Utah State University, and I’m now pursuing a Master’s degree in Geographic Information Science and Technology (GIST) at the University of Wyoming. With nearly five years of experience in GIS, I’ve developed a strong passion for the field, especially when it comes to creating cartographic maps. I truly enjoy the blend of science, technology, and creativity that GIS offers.

SW Regional Director: Kimberly Guinta

My name is Kimberly Guinta and I work in Lincoln County as the Engineering/GIS Analyst. I have lived in Wyoming for 14 years, originally working for the Forest Service in Wildlife. I have a Environmental Science Degree with a focus on Wildlife Biology from American Public University that I received in 2016.  My husband is a lifelong Wyomingite and I'm proud to be raising my kids in WY, Otto (11) & Flora (9). I have been working for Lincoln County for 2 years in my current role.  I love my job & all things GIS! I provide maps for a variety of grants, projects, departments & occasionally the public and assist the many projects for the County Engineer. I would be happy to be on the WyGEO board & assist in any way I can! I have really enjoyed the few conferences of WyGEO that I have been to. I have learned a lot & met many great folks.

NE Regional Director: Brett Governanti

Brett Governanti has worked in municipal GIS for over 19 years with the City of Casper and currently serves as interim Northeast Director for WyGEO after being invited to fill a vacant seat. Brett leads technical projects like enterprise migration and cross-discipline integrations. He wants to help WyGEO advocate for better GIS governance in Wyoming and to work on training opportunities that draw on our members' expertise.

Let me know if you have any questions!
