Any Hardware/Software Suggestions for a solid home set up and ideally a wifi reporting ability?

I like Davis....  I have had Davis stations and they were just easy and robust.

The technical reports for the solar radiation data subset of CWOP always have a quick look at what technology is in use, in Table 2.  In the report published 2021, Davis was at least 40% of the solar radiation data subset of stations in the CWOP network.

Those are linked at http://wxqa.com/lum_search.htm which is the home page for the solar radiation data archive.  Third-from-last paragraph has links to the technical reports.

Another resource, not limited to the solar-radiation-data collecting stations, is the Gladstone site.  An example link is:

I'm working on the next technical report for the solar radiation data from CWOP, nearly done but I am trying to show how to manage effects of shading, tilt and tarnishing, and it was kind of fascinating and I went down rabbit holes.  hoping to finish it soon.

I have run Davis for last 7 years. They're expensive to up keep and I don't see Davis any better than much cheaper units. You may want to look at Ecowott.

All,

I have operated a Davis Vue Pro 2 since April 2014 with virtually no issues.  I have replaced the solar powered fan at least once, but that is all.  I routinely take out the bee-hive and clean the system with a vacuum.  I run the free CUMULUS software package and that has worked well to upload data to CWOP and WU.  You can view my data at www.climateservices.net.  Best of luck!

FWIW, I've had good luck with the Ambient Weather WS2000.  In hindsight, for better compatibility with add-on devices, Ecowitt would have been a better choice.  For data transfer over wifi, it's pretty hard to beat Meteobridge.  I've got a relatively cheap router that I flashed with Meteobridge, and it's worked flawlessly.   Hope this helps!!

I agree, I have spent a bunch of money with them, but everything they sell just keeps working, and when it quits, they usually provide a hot swap at a discount.

Love 'em

I have two stations, both Davis with Ambient's Meteobridge to publish the data.
#1: Davis Vantage Vue
#2: Davis Vantage Pro2

The only repair in 10 years has been the anemometer bearings. $20 for a rebuild kit and 10 minutes of work.
