Hello CWOPs

I registered a new station with CWOP and configured WeatherLink to upload data (station ID G4786.  However I don't see anything show up in the findu report.

The weatherlink web site shows that the data upload is active, but there is no interface that would show logs to confirm that it's being sent to findu servers.

It is possible that our LAT/LON setting in Weatherlink is slightly off from what I specified in the CWOPs form. Would that prevent data from properly registering?

G4786 shows as inactive.  You can check the member list by picking on “Member Lists” here http://www.wxqa.com/

If you pick on “Join CWOP” on the same page it will take you to another page where there is a link to update your account information.  I don’t think CWOP activates a site until it’s sending data AND the station owner asks for it to be activated.

Regards,

Eric

I don't see any data for that station, failed or otherwise.

So, the CWOP ID (WeatherLink, APRSWXNET, findu, etc) is GW4786, the MADIS ID (NWS) is G4786 (implied translation). If you enter the wrong ID you'll never find the data.

The accuracy of the GeoCoords is irrelevant, however, the validity of the format is critical. But, I don't see the station on the failed packet report so neither that, nor problems with any or the other data, is likely to be the cause.

Based on what I don't see, the most likely cause is the configuration of the CWOP server in WeatherLink since it doesn't look like data is being transferred.

Check this page for server setup information: http://www.wxqa.com/servers2use.html

Use #2, #3 does not apply to you. as far as #8, use 14580. DO NOT use port 23, in spite of what it says. In reality, many server operators have port 23 is disabled for security reasons. Also, check the weatherLink log since it does log communication failures and it should be pretty apparent if there is an issue there.

Thank you for the replies.   I think the mystery is solved.  There was a space after the station call in the weatherlink website config.  There was no way to spot it until i went into the config and placed a cursor in the form field.  Took out the trailing space and poof...!
