Thank you for reading this.
After having been unsuccessful with a WxPython installation I
discovered, after an Internet search, that there is a problem with pip
and Python3. Part way through the installation process I'm greeted with
pages of error similar to the following:
ERROR: Exception:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File
"/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/pip/_vendor/urllib3/response.py", line
438, in _error_catcher
yield
File
"/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/pip/_vendor/urllib3/response.py", line
519, in read
data = self._fp.read(amt) if not fp_closed else b""
File
"/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/pip/_vendor/cachecontrol/filewrapper.py",
line 90, in read
data = self.__fp.read(amt)
Is there a work-around or do I just need to be patient until this
problem is resolved?

Hi Phil,
I have been successfully installing wxpython into Python 3 using pip for some time now. The questions are which Python 3, on which platform(s) and are you installing from pypi (the default) or elsewhere?
The wxpython binary downloads for wxpython 4.2.0 are available pre-built for Python 3.7, 3.8, 3.9 & 3.10 for both MacOS & Windows 64 bit. If you are using a python <3.7 I would strongly suggest upgrading and likewise if you are using 32 bit python on Windows switch to 64 bit if possible. If you are on Linux check to see if there is a pre-built version available in your distribution channels (apt-get, etc.).
For other targeted versions and platforms it will require some work on your part ensuring tools & dependencies are met for the build to take place.
