Ok for 2.7.2 tomorrow morning? or would you prefer 2.8.0-rc1

I suggest that after the 2.7.2, we bump everything to 2.8.0
so if a release candidate is good enough, we just need to
change the homepage and rename the files (more or less).

Ok, thanks! I won't be online tonight, could someone else (Julian? Robin?)
please release the files on SF? Also, I think this release still merits an
announcement, even if it's going to have a very short life, so I hope
Julian can post it as usual -- sooner the people see it, more time they will
have for testing.

TIA!

I'm a bit confused, I did make some name changes in build/script, but
the 2.7.2 doc archives bear little resemblance to those files mentioned
in files in build/script. Can someone perhaps point out where they are
named? Now we have a mix of capitalisation, e.g.
wxWidgets-2.7.2-html.tar.gz, wxWidgets-2.7.2-HTB.tar.gz. Can someone
please make sure all initials are capitalised? Also as I mentioned
before, I don't think we should have *-extra-* archives, I think it's
simpler to have them all in one archive (per format) if we distribute
them at all. IMO we need:

wxWidgets-2.7.2-HTB.tar.gz
wxWidgets-2.7.2-HTML.tar.gz
wxWidgets-2.7.2-PDF.tar.gz

wxWidgets-2.7.2-HTB.zip
wxWidgets-2.7.2-HLP.zip
wxWidgets-2.7.2-CHM.zip
wxWidgets-2.7.2-PDF.zip

Also readme-readme-2.7.2.txt should be renamed readme-2.7.2.txt.

(This is all for the next release, that is.)

Also also, if the setup.exe could have the CHM documentation as per
2.6.x, that would be nice.

Thanks,

Julian

I added the 2.7.2 by hand - the ones built on windows do have both main
wx and 'extra' help files (thanks, Julian). The ones built on unix have
not been updated (html, htb). I don't think i will have time to do
anything different for 2.8.0

I thought I had done this, but evidently not. (sed in preflight.sh)

setup.exe just has the wxMSW checkout (no samples, no help).

I am still having difficulties uploading files to SF; there is a "24
hour" timeout to replace incorrect files, and I uploaded all the first
release. I have replaced about half the zip/tar.gz files so far.

the docs are unchanged, so should not need uploading again

Sorry it has been so slow

Just to say I'm awaiting Chris's OK on the SF files. I transferred doc
and wxAll files at around 15.25 yesterday before realising it was
premature, so I don't know if that will have messed up Chris's transfer.

Julian

Files uploaded to SF at last - I only did the tar.gz ones for the unix
platforms; if you want the bz ones too let me know

i hope we can get the bugs out and not introduce any new ones for 2.8.0

when will we srelease this ?

Hi Chris,

Many thanks! I don't think bz2 is crucial for everything. I see there's
a wxWidgets-2.7.2.tar.bz2 - shall I keep that or is it an old one to be
deleted?

(I'm a bit concerned about the wxFileName breakage in 2.7.2, and letting
people use it in the circumstances, but I suppose we're committed now.)

Julian

No, this has "everything" so the smaller size may help some downloaders

I think it's fixed.

This is a good idea. I'll take a look at setting it up.
