I hate to bump an old issue, but looking through Tenacity's source code, I found a comment linking to this old Trac issue, so I decided to look into this with the original code.

Using wxWidgets 3.2.8.1 on Arch Linux under KDE Wayland with GTK 3, it appears that this is no longer an issue:

I will test under GNOME and Xfce just to double check.
