Previously, if one failed because the file doesn't exist for example, the next ones didn't start.

I thought about suppressing the error message when the file is not found (it's just the stripping after all), but you're the judge; I'll follow if you prefer to let them. :)
Moreover if it's a bash-ism; I can turn them into 2>/dev/null?

Sorry, but why would we want to do this? Any failure during install is fatal, so the current behaviour looks fine to me.
Also, Makefile.in is a generated file, making changes to it is useless because they will be lost during the next regeneration anyhow. We can discuss how to change it properly, but first please explain why do we need to change it at all.

Then I would like you to clarify me a bit, because -maybe I do not understand everything- but as far as I get it, you can of course build wxWidgets without all these libs...
For example, $(DLLPREFIX)$(WXDLLNAMEPREFIXGUI)u$(WXDEBUGFLAG)$(WX_LIB_FLAVOUR)$(WXCOMPILER)$(VENDORTAG)$(WXDLLVERSIONTAG)$(dll___targetsuf3), is only built when MONOLITHIC is enabled (correct me if I'm wrong).
So if I haven't enabled it, then -> it doesn't get build, then -> it doesn't get installed, then -> the strip operation fails.
My conclusion: you want to have a more lenient error handling, so it isn't fatal when a single lib is not found for stripping.
Also,
Makefile.inis a generated file, making changes to it is useless because they will be lost during the next regeneration anyhow. We can discuss how to change it properly, but first please explain why do we need to change it at all.
Yes, there you are right about this, my bad; what should we modify then?

You're definitely doing something very wrong if commands installing the non-built targets are executed for you. Normally they should be commented out in Makefile created by configure.
If you think there is an actual problem in wx, please open an issue describing in details what you do.

The issue already seems to exist, but is pretty old: #10139
However, this sounds like the same problem than me.

OK, it helps to know that you used install-strip target — which is indeed broken. I never personally even looked at this because I've never used this target myself, but it would be good to fix it, of course, as long as we have it at all.
The problem is that Makefile.in is indeed generated by bakefile, see docs/contributing/how-to-add-files-to-build-system.md for more about it.
