vadz left a comment (wxWidgets/wxWidgets#26198)OK, I think this was only "fixed" as a side effect of using WS_EX_COMPOSITE, as light background was drawn as a side effect of using tooltips. The real fix is in the (first commit of) #26203, please let me know if you still see anything wrong with it.
Appearance of the control in "hot" (hover) state is not ideal, I suspect we may want to switch to just drawing it ourselves instead of inverting the bitmap drawn by the control itself but it's probably acceptable for now.
