Planning 3.3.4 and 3.2.12 for 2026-10-10

Hello,

I'd like to make the new releases on the next symmetric date, i.e. October
10. I hope to address most of the issues with 3.3.4 milestone (see
https://github.com/wxWidgets/wxWidgets/issues?q=is%3Aissue%20state%3Aopen%20milestone%3A3.3.4)
by then, as usual please let me know if you think anything else should
absolutely be included in this release. I hope that this will be the last
3.3 release before 3.4.0, so any really big changes should be included into
it.

Danny, Xavier, will you be available to build the binaries in this time
frame?

Wil the source be ready on the 9th? Something has come up and I will be out from mid-day on the 10th until mid-day on the 11th (GMT-4). If they are available any time on the 9th or overnight I can have the binaries ready before I leave on the 10th.

I'll create a RC tag on the 9th and will post here as soon as I do.

Of course, if you need to leave earlier or something breaks, we can always
either postpone the release by a few days or make the binaries available on
the 12th or whenever you can build them, 10/10 is just a self-imposed
deadline anyhow.

I've created 3.2.12-rc1 tag and the corresponding draft release at

https://github.com/wxWidgets/wxWidgets/releases/edit/untagged-f0c74d54ae6dccff6c41

(as usual, you need to be logged in to see it).

Danny, you can start with building the binaries for it, and I'll make a
few more changes to master before tagging it as 3.3.4-rc1 and making a
draft release for it too.

with the changes for the web site (review welcome!).

Please let me know if anybody sees any last minute problems. I'll be
absent for the rest of today (2026-10-09) but will be there tomorrow.

I'm not totally sure if it's a good idea to announce the release on a
Saturday, but I'll probably still do it tomorrow if no fatal problems are
found.

Oops, sorry, I've just realized that we've switched to SHA-256 checksums
in master but these files still use SHA-1. Would you be able to update
them?

If not, I'll do it myself when I'm back by downloading them, checking
their SHA-1s and recomputing SHA-256.
