Oh, there's a tiny little pin on there. I thought it was labeling the large building(s) on the left (Fred Meyer) - "I never realized how prominent the Pauling House was!" :-)

I plan to be there, but as a result of returning from the coast just minutes before, don't expect something homemade from me.

I just learned today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day (Sept 19).  Look it up if ya don't believe me.

That rang a bell:  Shore nuff:  me at Island Cafe c/o DW (the captain) and Meliptus (his boat), Sept 19 2005:

https://mybizmo.blogspot.com/2005/09/talk-like-pirate-day.html  (small picture, people wearing pirate costumes)

So:  pirate garb is mandatory!  Arrgh.  Just kidding.

However, if you wear an eye patch, no one should raise an eyebrow if ya know what I mean, wink wink.

From 2006:

Wanderers and Pirates have a lot in common, etymologically, as in: unmoored; not subject to any landlubber king with a chartered navy.

Coincidentally(?), pirates are also the unofficial (or maybe official) mascot of another group which sometimes considers me a member, the Pastafarians. The reason for the obscure connection harkens back to a letter, written by Oregon State student Bobby Henderson to the Kansas State Board of Education in 2005, regarding a decision over whether to teach intelligent design in the schools. (I won't go into detail here, but the story is easily found online.)

Perhaps we should serve some RC cola, in recognition of pirates' two favorite letters.

A shout out to Ryan Buchanan who joined us for the first time last time, for our Summer Solstice of 2025.

https://flic.kr/p/2ruoL24  (slice of time, Kirby's photostream)

Also, since this is the closest Equinox to it:  Happy Halloween. [1]

K.

[1] our business partnership used to host a side program for kids and families called Turning the Wheel featuring the 8 Celtic Holidays (my wife was the expert, not me).  Mostly we did bookkeeping and custom application programming for mostly nonprofits around Portland (such as ISEPP).

Ah, dagnabbit, I'm late!
I would've joined the Zoom call, but my mind had the 22nd; forgot it wasn't set on the actual equinox.

Anyways, yeah us Roseburgers get to claim Bobby Henderson (the pastafarian guy) as one of our own. Pretty cool piece of culture to come from this little bumpkin town.

Hope y'all have a great weekend; I'm going to be immersing myself into some old-school RPGs! Have fun at the Watts show Kirby!
