Just out of curiousity, how many on the lake have seen Massasauga
Rattlesnakes.

We are in the Narrows and just found one on our property, much to our
surprise when picking up some kindling and finding it sleeping
underneath.

Fortunately, the current cold spell meant it was not very quick
moving.

Anyone else?

We are on the Top Lake near Haywards Trading Post and have not
encountered any there. However, I have encountered several on various
canoe trips west of WWK (Bolger Lake area). Mind you, that was
probably 5+ years ago, so it appears that they are on the move.

We are at Toggle Point, straight across from Bennetts. I've never
seen a rattler at the lake in the last 32 years in the Toggle Point
area, or anywhere else around the lake. I have heard that some people
see them quite frequently though. In general I tend to find Eastern
Hognose, Garter, Puff Adders, and bright green snakes (insert proper
name here). I'll be in the Bolger Lake area this September and will
definitely keep an eye out.

I hear the Wayne Lennox sees rattlers quite often on his biking
excursions.

We are on Sherwood's Point just past the opening to the Narrows. Last
year was the first time in 40+ years that we encountered a
Rattlesnake. Fortunately, no one was hurt however our children were
the ones who came across it first. (Quite a scary moment for all of
us.)

Last year we sort of just chalked it up to the unusually high water
levels. We haven't seen any this year but I have to tell you, after
last years encounter, it certainly makes one more "aware"!

Perhaps it's the same one -- travelling on up river.

That's a pretty slow moving snake, it's good that out-running them
isn't a concern! (-:
