Dear Sirs/Madams,

Please find attached our recommendations for the Mercer County Route 571 improvements presented at the public hearing December 15, 2009.  The Trustees of the West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance strongly feel this design is not bicycle or pedestrian friendly and does not meet key Township and state objectives, policies and/or guidelines. If implemented, the studies cited in the letter lead us to believe that bicyclists and pedestrians will be less safe, while motorists will enjoy "negligible" safety benefits. We urge reconsideration of the critical design features in the strongest possible terms, to improve safety for all users of the roadway, consistent with Township objectives and NJDOT policies and guidelines.

We look forward to working with our elected officials and public professionals to make West Windsor a bicycle and pedestrian friendly community.

Sincerely,

Jerry Foster
