to WVU Biodiesel Project
Dadyburjor had 2 suggestions for what we should do:
1) keep writing proposals
2) actively search for location. However, he made it seem like he was
going to start calling around looking for space and "softening them
up" for when we called. (We should probably keep a dialogue with Dr.
Dadyburjor to keep our cooperation running smoothly and efficiently
and to see whose doors we should be knocking on.)
He also said he would have "asked for $20,000."
The Chem E dept. can kick in some money, but not all.
Dr. Anderson mentioned that Dean Cilento and someone else had given
him verbal financial support.
We should redouble our efforts to see if any other departments want to
go in on this with us (and help fund it!), especially Chem dept.
Possible locations mentioned:
1) ESB high bay
2) NRCCE Mesanine
3) Smaller labs on ESB ground floor
4) MAE bunker (but apparently we should investigate ChE space, i.e.
#1-3, first)
5) CAFE (contact: Nigel Clark) <== I think Dr. Dadyburjor was going to
contact this guy
6) National Alternative Fuels Consortium (Baker's Ridge Rd.- far away,
so not good for processor, but possible place for skid construction,
and they've expressed willingness to let us have space before)
Dr. Dadyburjor is going to contact someone about used chemical
equipment.
He wants us to deliver 2 things to him:
1) Process layout (with height dimension?)
2) List of members with departmental affiliations
Dr. Anderson mentioned that UConn has an operating biodiesel
processor. Is anyone planning on going to the UConn game or just
wants to take a roadtrip to tour it?
