The ACM and FSG will have their first meeting of the year, tomorrow,
September 15th in G83 ESB at 5 PM. There will be an introduction and
discussion of topics for the year. We'll also be holding officer
elections, and we need excited people interested in helping us
continue to build both of these groups to their potential.

Both of these groups have done some amazing things in the past couple
years, but we won't be able to continue without your help!

There will be pizza!

About the ACM
----------------------
The WVU Student Chapter of the ACM was revived in Spring 2005 and has
already hosted several popular events (including a LAN party, several
Linux IntallFests, etc.), with plans for many more to come. The WVU
ACM meetings and events provide members not only with opportunities to
advance their knowledge in a variety of technological areas, but also
with the chance to relax and have some fun with others in similar
fields.

About the FSG
----------------------

FSG was started with the ideals of creating a community and building
awareness around free software, this isn't limited to free as in
speech software, but also software which is free as in beer that
doesn't meet the free speech requirement. We are growing out of the
WVU Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering because
it is the logical hub of all things software related, however our
advocacy doesn't end there. For example, as a part of the College of
Engineering and Mineral resources we can extend our outreach efforts
by providing Octave to engineers working on MATLAB projects who don't
have the money required for student licenses.

And that's just a start! As a long term goal we're pushing for the
inclusion of a free Office Suite installed in all campus Computing
Facilities. To work in parallel with that goal we will be distribution
copies of Open Office around the campus to anyone who wants a copy to
try.

Go to our Code tab and see the FSG branch by tbielawa, it contains our
Constitution.

Our stated goal is to: Raise Awareness, distribute, and encourage the
adoption and installation of free software to the Student Body,
Morgantown Community, and in Campus Computing Facilities.
