All right members, announcement time.

I just spoke with Dr. Goseva, and we have some ideas. I'll present some of them here.

One, we're hoping to have a joint activity with IEEE. This is probably going to be a picnic or a speaker. Thoughts?

Two, we're working on getting a team together for the ACM International programming contest. Stay tuned for more information.

Three, we're interested n trying to get Corey Haines to do another code retreat here if people are interested. (Last year's officers, please give me information on this)

Four, we're trying to get a distinguished speaker to come in the spring. Look here:

Give suggestions if you want. If not, I'll probably just pick something.

Regarding three, I think it'd be better to get in touch with the professionals who came down from Pittsburgh and perhaps have one of them coordinate a code retreat.  Chris Geihsler would definitely be interested, he's @seejee on twitter -- I don't have an email address for him but he seems to have an account on every social network known to man (google, the source of all that is right and true).  Corey gave us the tools to host our own events like this so I doubt he would be very interested in a return trip.

Doing a joint activity would certainly be a great idea. Seeing as how
IEEE is a larger group we may be able to recruit a number of new
people to ACM.
A speaker sounds like a great idea, if we could get one closer to the
end of this semester even to help out some freshmen who need OCEs we
would most likly have a good turn out.
Sorry I missed last week's offficer's meeting, I thought I was on the
mailing list when obviously I was not for the group. Is there
anything that needs done that I can help with now?
