I'm trying to install wvstreams on a ubuntu 9.10 laptop. When I type
"./configure", that goes fine. However, when I type "make", I get a
problem. Below is the output;
* Generating CC using c
* Generating CXX using cc
make: *** No rule to make target 'config.mk', needed by 'all'. Stop.
Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix it? I'm a little ibt
stumped.
Seecheckstuff.
Which version of WvStreams? I think the CC/CXX stuff is gone in the
latest test version in git, so you must be using some other version.
Note that ubuntu already has a pre-compiled wvstreams in its
repository so you shouldn't need to build it from scratch.
Have fun,
Avery
Thanks for the help.
Dan.
Correct.

Wvdial does not connect. In am trying to get online using a virgin
mobile broadband dongle - they say it is a Huawei E160.
Here is my output from the command "wvdial 2>&1 | tee wvdial.out"
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60
--> Cannot get information for serial port.
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ
ATZ
OK
--> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
OK
--> Modem initialized.
--> Sending: ATDT*99#
--> Waiting for carrier.
ATDT*99#
--> Disconnecting at Wed Apr 7 21:15:50 2010
And my wvdial.conf
[Dialer Defaults]
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Modem Type = Analog Modem
Phone = *99#
ISDN = 0
Username = username
Init1 = ATZ
Password = password
Modem = /dev/ttyUSB1
Baud = 9600
By the way, for your information, when you said that there was no CC
or CXX stuff in the latest version, well it was the latest version
(1.61) that I was trying. But that's unimportant now, since I've
managed to install 1.60 from the repository.
Again, thankyou for all your help! Dan.
Thanks for the detailed problem description. Unfortunately, from the
above it looks like:
- wvdial has correctly detected your modem
- it initializes and tries to connect ok
- but the connection times out for some reason.
It's possible that your "Init2 =" or "Phone =" strings are incorrect,
but if so, this is a modem-specific problem and shouldn't have
anything to do with wvdial itself. If you do figure it out, it would
be nice if you posted back here so we can help others who experience
similar problems.
Thanks,
Avery
