Thanks to some encouragement from a new user Bob, I found some time this weekend to finally finish off Station Mode, which allows WVR to log into your local WiFi network. There is now a working example in beta. The link for the binary is here.

HOW IT WORKS:

At the bottom of the "WVR" global configuration menu in the Web UI, you will see a new option "join external wifi network".

1) Set this to "yes" and options will appear for the network name and password.
2) Fill out these new fields and click "try new network and password".
3) Reset the WVR (on this boot WVR will join the network, but also maintain the WVR network, it will do both!).
4) Refresh the UI in the browser.
5) Return to the WVR menu and click "get IP Address" and the IP will be displayed, or it will show you the failure message.

Now you can switch to the local network with your computer, and enter this IP, and WVR should respond with the UI.

Folks who know about IP addresses and such will say "hay this IP address may change" and indeed it may change, at the discretion of your router. In that case you can go into your routers settings and give WVR a fixed IP (or so I've been told), and alternatively you can simply use the WVR network again to connect and determine the new IP that has been assigned. I have been using the same IP all day and it has not changed, I have hopes that it will stay the same for some time.

This system may or may not be the final destination for WVR in Station mode, but it is the best I have for now. If anyone has superior implementations for this process using ESP32 under Arduino, do get in touch! I have an open issue on GitHub for any suggestions and feedback. Do let me know how it works for you, if you decide to try :)

As always, these beta releases are rushed! There may be bugs! It is even possible that something may go very wrong, so make sure you have setup (and tested) recovery mode before booting these beta firmwares.

All the best,
Andrew
