Hi,

I updated the software on my Davis Vantage Pro2 console and Envoy
today to 1.73. This update has an important fix for barometric
pressure calculations for high elevations (like me).

I also discovered that the VPro2 uses the "new" software barometric
pressure calculation which means it will always differ from the vast
majority of other readings out there until they switch to this more
accurate calculation.

How did you update your console and Envoy? From what I understand, the
data logger can be used to transfer the update. My envoy has the data
logger but not my console. I wonder if I can move the logger to the
console, update the firmware, then put the logger back on the envoy,
and update it without any negative effects to whatever is stored on
the logger?? Davis Instruments doesn't really go into that kind of
detail in their instructions that I've seen

At 6300 ft, I probably should get the update to correct the barometer.

Hi Robert,

I did my console via the direct to pc udpate (I have a secret, albeit
legal, windows partition just for that and my GPS firmware updates).

I did the envoy via the updater box I have.

If your firmware is recent enough, you can simply take the data logger
out of one and put into the other to perform the update. If you get an
error which says "boot record not found." then your firmware isn't
correct for a direct from pc install and you'll have to send it in to
be updated or use the updater box.

Joey,

Got the console and envoy upgraded today using the data logger in the
envoy. No data loss occurred. Barometer change was 0.2 inches lower
after applying the new firmware.

Thanks for the info!
